Induction Loop System

How does induction loop system work?

The sound source[1] (AV/PA system) is connected to the loop amplifier [2] which is connected to the induction loop cables [3]. The signal is detected by the telecoil receiver in the hearing aids [4] converted back to audible sound customized to the listeners hearing loss by the hearing aids [5] and transmitted to the listener’s ears [6].

  1. Input ‘source’ audio
  2. Loop amplifier
  3. Loop(s) of cables
  4. Hearing aid telecoil receiver
  5. Hearing aid
  6. Sound direct to the ear

Different Types of Induction Loop System

Different loop designs are required to cater to difference in the layout and size of the room, presence of metal, prevention of eavesdropping and interference etc.

  • Low Spill Multiloop

    • Only requires a single loop driver for a huge area up to 3300m2
    • Highest eavesdropping avoidance with signal becoming inaudible after about 1 meter from the intended area.
    • Also suitable for rooms with metals in floor or structure.
  • Overspill Loops

    • Only solution for counters
    • Only a single loop driver required for a coverage area of up to 35m2
    • Final performance and design depends on counter materials
    • Height and distance of listener must be considered (eg for wheel-chair users)
  • Perimeter Loops

    • A single loop driver swill be sufficient for an area of up to 1300m2
    • Suitable for Stone, brick or wooden construction building with minimum or no metal in the floors or structure.
    • Used for areas whereby eavesdrop or interference is not an issue
  • Low Loss Multiloop

    • 2 loop arrays, one on top of the other
    • Used for rooms with metal
    • Used for large and irregular shaped rooms
  • Single Array Loop

    • 2 loop arrays, one on top of the other
    • Used for rooms without metal
    • Used for large and irregular shaped rooms
  • Cancellation Loop

    • 2 loop arrays, one on top of the other
    • Used to limit interference with a performance stage
